The ring came together on Jan 4th for our regular meeting. There was much mingling with discussion of magical xmas gifts received. Personally I got a biography of Doug Henning, Jumper by Joe Rindfleisch, and Tagged by Richard Sanders. We continue to see new members coming into the ranks which is very gratifying. Our younger membership is growing also and these kids are already good at magic. We have set up a committee to find lecturers for the coming year and we are planning a pot luck supper for Feb. A long lost returning member, Jerry Natoli, informed us of a church that is looking for magic as one of their monthly events so we will look into providing some magic for them. Jon Harris donated 3 packet tricks to the ring to sell at $5 each and proceeds to go to the ring. Thanks Jon! We made a decision to earmark some of the proceeds from our public show in October to produce next years show. After the business members performed their stuff. Jon Harris took a signed card, tore into 4 pieces, heated the edges and restored the card(called Torched and Restored). Elijah Maurer did a nice job with what looked like "Chicago opener". Tim Moore performed a 4 ace production from Card College II and went on to do a sponge ball routine. Matt Bailey made all the ink from spectators card vanish leaving a blank card and then he restored the card instantaneously. Alex Boyce performed an ambitious card routine with a borrowed deck and produced the last card from the air. I did the first part of my new effect Jumper which is a new way of linking 2 rubber bands called Instalink - it is very cool because you don't need a set up. By the time you are reading this the packers should have one the super bowl! Submitted by Dan Young
